Materials & care

Every MonDoudou is made of organic cotton, with linen, modal or silk depending on the model. Here you will find what makes each material special and how to care for your carrier.

The materials

  • Organic cotton

    Used in
All six MonDoudou, the accessories and the KAAMI Slings
    Properties
Soft on the skin, absorbs moisture well and is hard-wearing. The weave gives the fabric depth and texture.Organic (on German labels “kbA”, controlled organic cultivation) means the cotton is grown according to the rules of organic farming: without chemical-synthetic pesticides and fertilisers and without genetic engineering.
    Care
Delicate cycle as stated on the care label, with liquid detergent.
  • Linen

    Used in
    Très Chic Linen
    Properties
Made from the fibres of the flax plant. Very tear-resistant, cool to the touch and highly breathable, pleasant on warm days. Linen grows softer with every wash. It creases easily; that is part of the material.
    Care
After washing, pull into shape and let it dry in the air.
  • Viscose

    Used in
Très Chic Silk, in the yarn
    Properties
Also a fibre made from wood cellulose. It gives the yarn a slight sheen and a smooth, cool feel. Viscose is more delicate when wet than when dry.
    Care
    Do not wring, little spinning.
  • Silk

    Used in
Très Chic Silk, in the yarn
    Properties
A natural fibre from the cocoon of the silkworm. It brings a fine sheen, is light and balances temperature. Sensitive to friction, heat and harsh detergents.
    Care
Best washed by hand, do not rub, dry in the shade.

How to wash your MonDoudou

For every model: as gently as possible.

  1. By hand or on a delicate cycle. Hand washing is gentlest. In the machine, choose the delicate cycle at 30 to 40 °C; the care label of your carrier is what counts.
  2. Always inside a pillowcase. The buttons and buckle are hard. Inside the pillowcase they do not knock against the drum, and both carrier and machine stay intact.
  3. Liquid detergent. Mild, without perfume or enzymes.
  4. No bleach, no harsh additives, no fabric softener. Fabric softener takes away the fabric’s grip, and it wears out sooner.
  5. Little spinning, dry in the air. Use the tumble dryer only if the care label allows it, then at most on “iron dry” and as cool as possible.

The carrier spa

If your MonDoudou needs a thorough refresh, we will look it over and care for it in the carrier spa. Krystyna Cordes is happy to answer questions about care.
