Close to you: babywearing in everyday life
In the first months, many babies mainly want to be close to their parents. A carrier makes that possible without bringing the day to a halt. Your child rests on your chest, both your hands are free, and cooking, shopping or a walk carry on as usual.
What matters for a good fit
How comfortable carrying is for both of you depends above all on how the carrier is adjusted. Babywearing consultants look at a few points: your child sits in the spread-squat position, knees slightly higher than the bottom. The back is gently rounded and supported. The head is high enough for you to kiss it, and the face stays free.
The MonDoudou carries your child from day one up to clothing size 98, from 3.5 to 20 kg. You adjust the size with buttons in the waist belt, and there are two more for newborns. The shoulder straps are half padded and can be fanned out over the shoulder.
Whether everything fits is easiest to see together. Krystyna Cordes has been a babywearing consultant since 2015 and has shown more than a thousand parents how to put on and adjust a carrier. She offers advice in and around Bremen, by phone or by video.
How each fabric feels
All six MonDoudou share the same cut. What sets them apart is the fabric. Organic cotton is soft on the skin and hard-wearing. In the Leopold, the yarn contains modal, a cellulose fibre usually made from beech wood. It makes the fabric especially soft and lets it drape fluidly. Linen feels cool and lets plenty of air through, while silk adds a fine sheen and is light.
The two Très Chic, with linen and with silk, look almost identical. The linen is slightly mottled, but you only see that up close. The real difference only shows once you hold the fabric in your hand.
